Entrepreneurs On The Come Up: Meet Vine

Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Michele also known as Viné (Vanay). I am a music artist and runway model. Im 22 born and raised in NJ.

How did you get started in your industry?

I was always interested in music, at the early age of 5 I was always walking around my house dancing singing or rapping. I would dance and put on shows for my family members. I started writing and venturing out on my own with music when I was 16 and since then I never stopped.

Did you always want to have a career in your industry?

Actually no, for the longest I had an interest in criminal justice I wanted to be a lawyer or prosecutor. I found that career so interesting. I read books on it and that was my trade major in high school but I just couldn't shake my passion for music it was always there but I told myself I needed a back up plan but if you put everything into your dream you wouldn't need a back up plan.

When you started your career, were you surrounded by a support unit?

Hell no, lol I never really had support not even from my family. My mom was my main and strongest supporter and she always encouraged me and pushed me. That's all I had until I started building and branding myself then people I didn't even know around the world started acknowledging me and that really touched my heart and it made me push harder. But before anyone started to acknowledge me I struggled constantly with myself wondering if I was good enough and why didn't anyone like me... I knew I had skills, I was a nice person and I worked my ass off. But I told myself I liked my work, I am my team, I knew what I was capable of and nothing or no one would stop that.

How did you turn your passion into a successful business?

I constantly worked making more projects and promoting myself. I was and I still am on social media everyday showing love to other artist and networking. Networking plays a huge part in getting yourself out there.

Was there ever a time you wanted to give up on your passion? What made you keep going?

Omg several times still til this day. In this industry fake sells, lies sell. You can't be real and be accepted much especially if you're just starting out. It seems like no one gives that a chance. I'm like I don't pop pills, I don't sleep with a bunch of dudes, I'm not rich. I just have a story to tell coming up from the struggle while still trying to make it out, dealing with today's view of love, family issues and these haters and the rap game period.

Did you ever doubt you’d be successful?

Plenty of times and I'm still not where I want to be fully in life I'm only 22 I have a long way to go but Ill never stop trying. I'm not a quitter, if I stop running I'll walk, if I can't walk Ima crawl lol.

How important is it for you, to create a good work/life balance?

Extremely important, I'm trying to build for my family and my future. It's all about your focus and determination but at the same time I'm not trying to skip over my personal life and needs as well I like to have fun just like everyone else so I let lose when I can and I just keep it to a minimum and realize I can have all the fun I want when I'm where I want to be.

What are your views on the importance on networking and building relationships in your field?

Networking and building relationships are extremely important in this industry it's really all about who you know, being at the right place right time etc. But at the same time I do believe you can absolutely know nobody and work with nobody and put in all the required hard work and the network and business will come to you it's just up to you to make it happen.

What’s the best advice you can give aspiring entrepreneurs?

The best advice I can give to other entrepreneurs is to be encouraged and be proud of yourself first. You are where it all begins. Work through the struggle, work through the doubters and those saying that you cannot do it, work through the pain, work through the joy, work when you feel like you've done enough. It's easier said than done but all the work will pay off in the end.

What’s next for you? Where do you see your brand and company(ies) in the next few years?

I'll be hosting a Christmas party this year which is new for me usually I just come in and get my music jumping but I'm exciting to be on this end of the rope and letting my personality show as well. You may be seeing me in some acting roles as well so stay tuned and I also have my next mixtape project coming out in the spring soon to be announced. Within the next few years I see my brand expanding tremendously and I'm already making new additions to my branding and marketing team. I'm just really excited.

Where can we find your work, so we can support your movement?
