Hey I’m Ty Findlay. I was born in North York, Toronto, but now live in Ottawa, ON. I had a decent childhood and like any normal child I was happy for the most part and I knew from an early age I was creative. I’ve loved reading and writing for as long as I can remember.
My adolescent years were confusing and the years of many struggles and realizations. Fighting through the dysfunction in my family left many holes in my life and created my destructive complexes and a huge longing for so many different things. However, these years helped me tap into my creativity. In high school I wrote a lot for drama class and about my personal battles.
I’ve always had people tell me I should write books, but it wasn’t until 2013 that I believed that I could. I was going through a really rough time and it’s traditional for me to write when I’m stressed and lost, so I did just that. That’s when my first book Venessa’s Hope, was born. It was raw and vulnerable, like how I was feeling and it was then that I decided to become serious about being a writer. Writing has always been an outlet for me, it’s always been the way that I’ve expressed myself and I felt that I had important stories and life lessons to share with the rest of the world. I knew that by presenting a different perspective, that I could make a difference with the words I wrote on a page, I just needed to put myself out there; which when you are an introvert can be really hard to do.
Self publishing my first book and starting a business has not been an easy journey for me. It came with many mistakes and lessons, but I’ve always been one for self improvement, learning and growth. With the help of my mentor and new found knowledge from my experiences, I am now well on my way to getting my work in front of the right people and into the right hands, your hands.
My goal is to touch people with not only my personal story, but with the stories that I write and to create beautiful, meaningful jewellery pieces that represent different women and celebrates those differences. I promise to always keep my work relatable, raw, provocative and real and I promise that by the end of reading, you won’t look at the world or other people through the same lens.
I aim to touch women who like me, have gone through many life struggles but have survived. I’m here to show you that you can tell yourself yes even when you are surrounded by a sea of no’s. I think the best advice I can give is to take all the negativity that has been thrown at you and turn it into something incredible.
Everyone has a journey and a story and mine is just beginning and I am so excited to share it with all of you. Through the ups and the downs, I’m not only walking closer to my destiny, but I’m hoping I can inspire you to do the same thing too. Survivors and fighters don’t buckle under negativity, we rise above it, you’ll see. Thanks for sharing in my journey and growth.
